This is a personal data processing policy within the meaning of Part 2, Article 18.1 of Russian Federal Law No. 152-FZ of July 27, 2006, “On Personal Data.” It explains what information about you I receive on amik.am, why I need it, who gets access to it, how long it is kept and what you are entitled to do about it.

1. Scope

This policy applies to all of amik.am, including its sections, pages, forms and applications, including any added later. Individual sections do not have separate policies.

2. Who processes the data

A private individual, the owner of amik.am. I accept inquiries on any matter in this document by email at amik@amik.am. A postal address for written requests will be given in reply to such an email.

3. What information is processed

I process two kinds of information.

First, what you tell me yourself when you write to me, fill in a form on the site or ask the assistant: your name, contact details, company name and the text of your message. The form itself shows exactly what it asks for.

Second, what your browser sends to any website automatically, without your filling anything in: IP address, cookie identifiers, the URL of the page you open and of the referring page, date and time, details of the device, operating system, browser, language and screen size, and actions on the page: navigation, clicks, scrolling.

I do not ask for special categories of personal data, biometric data or criminal records. If you volunteer them in free text, I will use them only to reply to you and delete them as soon as you ask.

4. Where it comes from

From you, when you write to me, fill in a form or ask the assistant. From your browser, when a page opens. From the services the site runs on, to the extent described in Section 7. I do not buy or collect information about you from third parties.

5. Purposes

I process information for the following six purposes only:

  1. to reply to your inquiry and correspond with you about it;
  2. to give you what you asked for, including access to materials on the site;
  3. to keep the site working and protect it from failures, brute-force attacks and other attacks;
  4. to measure traffic and use it to improve the content and structure of the pages;
  5. to fulfill obligations imposed on me by law;
  6. to protect my rights and legitimate interests, including in court.

The information is not used for marketing emails, advertising or promotion (Article 15 of 152-FZ). No decisions that produce legal effects concerning you are based solely on automated processing (Article 16 of 152-FZ).

6. Legal basis

I rely on whichever legal basis applies in the particular case (Part 1, Article 6 of 152-FZ). What you write in an inquiry is processed on the basis of your consent, given by the act of sending it, and on the fact that you initiated the contact (clauses 1 and 5). Running the site, protecting it and analytics rest on my legitimate interests, as long as this does not infringe your rights (clause 7); you can opt out of analytics (see Section 10). Obligations imposed by law are fulfilled on the basis of that law (clause 2).

7. Who else has access

The site runs on third-party infrastructure: a hosting provider serves the pages, an email service and a messaging app receive emails and messages, and a web analytics service measures traffic. They process the information on my behalf and for my purposes (Part 3, Article 6 of 152-FZ), only to the extent their service requires, and may not use it for their own ends. If you email me, I will tell you which providers I currently use.

The information is not shared with anyone else: it is not sold, rented out or handed to advertising networks. There is one exception: disclosure required by law or requested by a court, law enforcement or another competent authority.

Processing takes place in Russia, and information about visits does not leave the country. An inquiry sent through a messaging app does cross the border, because the app’s servers are located abroad. Only what you wrote leaves the country, and it does so under the rules of Article 12 of 152-FZ. To avoid this, write to amik@amik.am.

8. How long it is kept

Information is kept only as long as the purpose for which it was collected requires. Correspondence is kept while it remains relevant. Technical information is kept for the retention periods of the logs and services that record it. After that, the information is deleted or de-identified. If you withdraw consent or request deletion, the period ends sooner (see Section 12).

9. Cookies and browser storage

The site uses two kinds of cookies. Essential cookies make the page work and remember your choices; without them the site loses its settings, and I do not ask for consent to use them. Analytics cookies are set by the web analytics service; they are optional, and you can refuse them.

Besides cookies, the site uses your browser’s storage for the theme you chose, the volume, which items you have read and your preferences in the recommendation sections. This storage stays with you, is not sent to me and is erased when you clear this site’s data in your browser settings.

10. Analytics and how to opt out

The site uses a web analytics service. It measures traffic and records how pages are read: cursor movements, clicks, scrolling. I do not pass it your name, phone number or email address, and I do not configure it to collect them. Information about visits is not linked to your identity, is not used for advertising or profiling and is not sold to anyone.

You can opt out with the switch below. Opting out turns analytics off: the analytics script will not load on subsequent pages, and the cookies it set are erased at once. Your choice is stored in your browser, so you will need to repeat it in another browser or after clearing site data.

You can do the same in your browser by blocking cookies, using private browsing or installing a content blocker.

11. How it is protected

I take the legal, organizational and technical measures necessary and sufficient to meet the obligations of a data controller (Articles 18.1 and 19 of 152-FZ). The site uses a secure connection, and only I have access to the mailbox and the traffic reports. No security is absolute, and I make no such promise. In the event of a data breach, I will notify Roskomnadzor, the Russian data protection authority, within the time limits set by Part 3.1, Article 21 of 152-FZ.

12. Your rights

You have the right to find out whether your data is being processed and to receive information about it (Article 14 of 152-FZ); to demand that it be corrected, blocked or destroyed if it is incomplete, outdated, inaccurate, unlawfully obtained or no longer needed for its purpose; to withdraw consent; to object to processing carried out in my legitimate interests; and to file a complaint about my actions with Roskomnadzor or challenge them in court (Article 17 of 152-FZ).

Send requests by email to amik@amik.am. Response times are set by law: ten business days for a request for information, extendable by no more than five; seven business days for a demand to correct data; and when consent is withdrawn, processing stops within thirty days. The law sets requirements for requests for information (Part 3, Article 14 of 152-FZ): I need to be able to tell that the data in question is yours. If something is missing, I will tell you exactly what.

13. Children

The site is not intended for anyone under 14, and I do not knowingly collect their data. If I learn that such data has reached me, I will delete it.

14. Other websites

Pages link to other websites. I am not responsible for what happens to your data on someone else’s site: its own rules apply there.

15. Changes

The current version is published at amik.am/privacy/. A new version takes effect on the date shown under the title. I keep earlier versions and will send them on request.
